It takes about 3 to 5 days to get your Teen Driving Course--California certificate of completion (Form DL400C) in the mail, unless you wish to pay extra by having FedEx ship it.  Completion certificates or DL400C forms in California don't expire for six (6) months from the date they are issued, so there's no need to worry.
When can I actually start driving a car in California?
You may begin driving an automobile in California once you’ve turned 15 1/2, completed an approved California drivers education course, passed the California DMV written learner's permit exam and received your California learner's permit.  However, with a learner's permit, you must be accompanied by a licensed driver of at least 25 years of age sitting in the front passenger seat whenever you drive.
How long will I have to have my learners permit before I can get my real driver’s license?
California's DMV requires you be at least 16 years of age and have held a California learner's permit in good standing for at least six (6) months before you are eligible your California unrestricted drivers license. 
Do I have to do behind-the-wheel training with a professional instructor?
Yes, you do.  Hands-on learning is just as important as the knowledge of road rules when it comes to learning to drive safely.  Therefore, after you complete the Teen Driving Course's California online drivers education course and have received your California learner's permit, you will need to enroll in a DMV-certified professional driving school of your choice and complete your behind-the-wheel training. 

If you are less than six (6) months away from turning 18, you may get your learners' permit without the driver education and driver training certificates but you won't be able to take the driving test until you turn 18.

How many hours of supervised driving do I have to have before I can get my driver’s license?
In order to be eligible to get a California drivers license, you must complete 50 hours of driving practice with a licensed California driver who's at least 25 years old.  At least 10 of the 50 hours must be done at night.  This is in addition to the required six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel training you receive from a professional driving instructor.
Can my friends ride with me when I drive with my California permit?
Yes, but if you're under 18, there must be a licensed California driver who's at least 25 years old must be sitting next to you in the front passenger seat when you drive.  It is illegal for you to drive alone at any time.
Can I drive alone with my CA learners permit?
NO WAY.   It is illegal for you to drive alone at any time in the State of California with a learners permit.  A licensed California driver who is at least 25 years of age must be seated in the front passenger seat whenever you're behind the wheel.
