Mississippi Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I have to be to get my MIssissippi learners permit?
You need to be at least 15 years old before enrolling in a Mississippi driver education program and receive your Mississippi learners permit.
Who gets to take Mississippi driver education on the internet in Mississippi?
Anyone in Mississippi can take online drivers education for the purpose of getting ready to pass his/her drivers test and enhancing his/her safe driving skills.   Teen Driving Course teaches you everything you need to know to pass your drivers license exams.  However, to satisfy Mississippi's specific drivers ed requirements, you will need to contact the Motor Vehicle Commission ("MVC") to see if online driver education is an option for you.
Does the Mississippi MVC need any documents or paperwork from me?
You will first need to fill out a Mississippi Learners Permit Application form, signed by your parents (if you live with both your parents, they will both need to sign it), or your legal guardians).  You'll also need to provide your Social Security card, a certified copy of your birth certificate, and, if you're under 18, a certified school attendance form.
What if I don't pass the Mississippi learners permit test?
To get your learners permit, the Mississippi MVC requires you to pass a 30-question written test with a score of 80%, or 24/30.  If you fail the first time, just show up the next day and try again.  When you take Teen Driving Course, though, you will learn all you need to be prepared for your Mississippi learners permit exam, and can be confident you will pass the first time.
How many questions are on Teen Driving Course's online drivers education class' final exam?
The Teen Driving Course Mississippi online class' final exam consists of 35 questions and you will need 28 correct (80%) to pass the test (and the online class).   If you don't pass it the first time, it's okay. You can retake the exam as many times as you want until you pass at no extra cost.
Does Teen Driving Course satisfy Mississippi MVC requirements?
While you may be able to receive special permission from the Mississippi MVC to enroll in a Mississippi online driver education course to satsify your state driver training requirements, Teen Driving Course is primarily a supplementary education tool in Mississippi that will greatly help prepare you to take your drivers test and dominate on your first try, as well as help make you a much safer driver.
Once I pass Teen Driving Course, how long will it take to receive my certificate of completion?
Your Mississippi online drivers education certificate of completion normally takes about 3 to 5 days to arrive via regular mail.  However, you may choose to have it sent via FedEx express for an additional fee.  FedEx offers 3rd Day, 2nd Day, or Overnight Delivery.

When you sign up to take Teen Driving Course, you will be asked to choose a shipping method.  You can change your mind and choose a different shipping option any time before we send out your certificate (for example, if you  choose FedEx Overnight when you first register to take our online class, and then when you're about half-way through the course you decide you don't want to pay extra for shipping charges and it's not that big a deal to wait a few extra days to receive it, you may change your shipping option to regular mail by the USPS).
When can I start driving in Mississippi after passing my learners permit exam?
You can begin driving as soon as you’ve received your learners permit,  Mississippi law requires that you have a 21-year old licensed Mississippi driver supervising you from the front passenger seat at all times when you are driving with your learners permit.

Do I need to perform supervised driver training above and beyond my drivers education class?
In Mississippi, you don't need any supervised driving practice beyond the driving practice you do in your required drivers education class.  However, it's a really good idea to get as much driving practice as possible to ensure you have mastered driving techniques before going to a Mississippi MVC drivers license office and taking your Mississippi drivers license road test.
Can I have passengers in the car while I drive after getting my Mississippi learners permit?
Unfortunately, no.  Only a 21-year old licensed Mississippi driver can accompany you when you drive, and they must be seated in the front passenger seat.  Their presence is specifically required whenever you are driving with only a learners permit.  No other passengers are allowed.
